オーストラリア政府は８日、経済活動を再開するための３段階の計画を発表した。新型コロナウイルスの感染曲線の平坦化に成功したため、ロックダウン（都市封鎖）緩和が可能となった。
モリソン首相は閣議後にキャンベラで記者団に対し、危機の間に失われた約85万人の雇用が７月までに回復する見通しだと述べた。
同計画によると、第１段階では最大10人の集まりが許可されるほか、小売店や小規模のカフェやレストランの営業再開が可能となり、地域内の旅行が認められる。第２段階では最大20人の集まりが許可され、映画館や美術館が徐々に再開される。第３段階では最大100人の集まりが認められ、それまでには大半の人が在宅勤務から職場に復帰する。
これらのガイドラインの実施は、州や準州、特別地域の政府に委ねられる。
